About The College of Dairy Technology, Udgir
College of Dairy Technology was established in the year 2008 as a constituent college of the Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur and situated in Latur district of Udgir.
The total intake capacity of 32 students from all over the Maharashtra and 3 seats over and above the intake capacity are reserved for Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) candidates for B.Tech (Dairy Technology).The college is accredited by the ICAR, New Delhi and are following the course curriculum as recommended by the 5 th & 6 th Dean’s Committee of ICAR. The major objectives of the college are to produce trained human resource through it’s under graduate to meet the technical manpower requirement of dairy processing. All the passed-out students are well placed either in dairy industry, government departments or pursuing higher studies in various universities of repute.
Till 2023-24 around 333 students got awarded B.Tech (DT) degree including 82 girls and 251 boys. Out of this approx. 159 students got placed in private dairies both in India and abroad while remaining students pursued Post graduation from reputed national institute.

Dr. Niteen Patil assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University on August 10, 2023. A distinguished camel researcher, he has been recognized among the world’s top 20 scientists in the field. He holds a doctorate in Animal Nutrition from NDRI, Karnal, and has over 35 years of experience in livestock research,academia, and administration.
Campus Information
College has 4 Smart Class room along with 21 well established laboratories and 1 library consisting of about 4369 books and 6 journals. There is also a NSS unit where 44 boys and 16 girls were acted as volunteers in the year 2023-24.
There are five departments in the college i.e. Department of Dairy Technology, Department of Dairy Engineering, Department of Dairy Chemistry, Department of Dairy Microbiology and Department of Dairy Business Management. The college is having one of the best laboratory facilities for teaching and practical classes of undergraduate students. All laboratories are well furnished and equipped with advanced and modern analytical instruments. The college is blessed with young and dynamic faculty with wide exposure and good infrastructure, especially laboratory facilities and Experimental Dairy Plant. Within short period of time the college has developed optimum facilities.

Graduate Programs
B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) (4-year programme)
The Candidate should have a minimum Qualification of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English from an Indian Board/University recognized by Council of Board of School Education with at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST, BC and DP categories) in aggregate excluding the optional subjects(s). The students will have to submit a self-undertaking as per Annexure X-B, for information of the Board for their 10+2 class.

- To produce quality human resource through its undergraduate degree To generate data regarding various aspects of dairy sector in the state and providing policy inputs. programmes..
- To develop new technologies in the field of milk processing and dairy product development.
- To conduct training programmes for dairy farmers, entrepreneurs & persons from dairy industry.
- To provide consultancy services to dairy farmers, industry, Govt. & non-Govt. agencies involved in dairy development programme.
- To liaison with various dairy development organization(s).
- To generate data regarding various aspects of dairy sector in the state and providing policy inputs.
Silence Features
- From the year 2011-12 to 2023-24 our 25 students secured ranks in between 1st to 10th in ICAR PG examination. Out of total 25 students, 13 got Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) too.
- In 9th Maharashtra State Inter University Research Convention “ AVISHKAR 2014” , one of our student Mr. Anurag R. Singhamwar bagged first prize in the category of Commerce, Management and Law for preparing charcoal milk cooler: Effective way of extending shelf life of milk at farm level.
- College received Outstanding Performance Award from Indian Association for blind, Madhurai, Tamilnadu in 2013.
- Other than the academics, the college is also involved in extension activities especially for farmers, unemployed youth, milk vendors and SHG etc. Till 2023-24 approx. 22 workshops, 12 trainings, 25 on-farm demonstration and 22 seminars/webinars organised.
- College has actively participated in approx. 30 exhibitions and organised 15 exhibitions for the employed youths, farmers, entrepreneurs, SHG’s etc.
- Through extension publications, college provided valuable dairy related information which includes approx. 40 leaflets, 6 books, 11 periodicals, 42 newspaper articles, 14 radio talks and 6 TV Talks.
- In the year 2023-24, college has also completed one RGSTC, Mumbai funded project of budget Rs.42.82 lakh on ‘Fortification of selected indigenous dairy products with omega 3 fatty acids using microcapsules of flaxseed oil powder: a novel approach for promoting health and wellbeing of consumer’.
